You’ve no doubt noticed that the masthead for the blog is now All Politics Is Local. I’ve been thinking about a name change for a while, and this name, which has appeared on the site since the beginning, as the two pictures show (thanks to the Way Back Machine – click to enlarge). Plus, I think it’s a lot easier to get contributors if the blog has a different name 😉
Today I’m happy to announce the addition of my first contributor, Steve Vaughan. If the name sounds familiar, it is probably because Steve has been commenting on blogs for a while in addition to having his own blog, Virginia Pundit, since May 2009. He also writes for The Virginia Gazette, a semi-weekly community newspaper covering Williamsburg, James City County and York County. In starting to blog, he said:
I think I bring a unique viewpoint to the discussion because I’ve experienced the legislature and political campaigns both from the perspective of a reporter and from the inside, as a staffer.
I have friends on both sides of the aisle, which helps give me a more balanced perspective.
You can read his full bio here.
Please give Steve a warm welcome. He intends to post once or twice a week.
I’ve also been talking to some others about contributing so stay tuned 🙂
Thanks for the invite, Vivian. And also for the introductory post, which was what I’d planned to do myself. I’ll have something later today. I was going to write about the McDonnell redistricting commission, but you got there first. You’re very efficient;-)
Congrats Steve. I see you commenting everywhere, from here to Waldo’s to many others.
Looking forward to your articles up here.
Thanks Mark.
Mr. Vaughan, I support Virginia Organizing with a check every three months. Was glad to see you mention them in your blog.
Steve is an excellent choice, Vivian. Not that your site really needed improving, but he will certainly add to the discussion.
