Mr. Phantom

I have to say that the race in the 64th House of Delegates district isn’t one that I’ve been watching closely. But then I ran across this article and it made me curious about the challenger in the race.

I was aware, from their endorsements Sunday, that he had not met with The Virginian-Pilot editorial board. A Google search on the candidate brought me several such references. This article, in which the writer relies completely on the website of Mr. Phantom, was the final prompting that I needed to write my column this week, which appeared in Wednesday’s paper.

If this guy is successful, it provides a blueprint for other campaigns. And that’s simply not good for this democracy of ours.

Of course, neither is the public not paying attention.
