House Democrats named Del. David Toscano as Minority Leader and Del. Mark Sickles as Caucus chair, although from what I’m hearing, it wasn’t a smooth process. The full press release, including the other members of leadership selected, is below the fold.

House Democratic Caucus Selects New Leadership
Today, the members of the House Democratic Caucus met for their annual legislative retreat in Richmond, Virginia. In addition to planning for the upcoming legislative session, Caucus members selected a new leadership team.
Delegate David Toscano of Charlottesville (57th House District) was the unanimous choice for Minority Leader. Delegate Toscano was first elected to serve in the House of Delegates in 2005. Prior to his service in the House, he served on the Charlottesville City Council for 12 years and was mayor for one term.
Toscano’s vision for the future of the House Democratic Caucus is clear. “We are the party of economic opportunity, job creation and protecting the middle class. Our caucus will work to develop and implement solutions that will move our Commonwealth forward to a better future. We cannot and will not stand idly by as Republican leadership in the House fails to address the challenges we face. I ask all Virginians to join with us as we work to put Virginians first.”
Delegate Mark Sickles of Fairfax (43rd House District) was chosen to serve as Caucus Chairman. Delegate Sickles has served in the House of Delegates since 2004. He served on the Fairfax County Library Board for 11 years and well as serving as chair of the Board for one term. From 1995-1998 he served as Chairman of the Fairfax County Democratic Committee.
“The last two election cycles have been very difficult for our Caucus. In the coming months, I will work with the caucus to develop a comprehensive plan to elect more Democrats to our body including a rigorous candidate recruitment process. We have a lot of hard work ahead of us, but I remain committed to winning a majority in the House of Delegates” said Sickles.
Other leadership members selected at the meeting include Vice Chair for Operations, Delegate Rosalyn Dance of Petersburg (63rd House District) and Vice Chair for Outreach, Delegate Jennifer McClellan of Richmond (71st House District). Delegate Jeion Ward of Hampton (95th House District) retains the post of Caucus Treasurer. Delegate Betsy Carr of Richmond (69th House District) is Caucus Secretary. And, Delegate Delores McQuinn of Richmond (70th House District) is Sgt. at Arms.
