Fireworks at the Norfolk council meeting

I couldn’t make Tuesday night’s council meeting and had planned to watch the video later. Catching up on Twitter after it was over, I read a tweet that prompted me to head over and check it out 🙂 You can read about the exchange here and see for yourself in the video below. The fireworks start at about the 2:05 mark.

Given how dry council meetings usually are – I mean, they act as if they never disagree on anything – I have no problem with the display of emotion that came from the members. It shows me that they are human.

  1. …my take on what I saw (though I didn’t watch the entire meeting) was that there is an underlying issue between Mr. Smigiel and Mr. Riddick. IMO, it looked as though Mr. Riddick felt the issue under discussion was being rushed. Mr. Smigiel then attempted to sway other members of council to his line of thought. In the process, Smigiel got into Riddick’s pride by using innuendo and alluding to Riddicks absence during a previous meeting. It looks as though things got patched up (sort of) for the time being but both are professional and will move on. However, I can easily imagine both men at home right now erasing the others name off their Christmas card list..
