The day will come

Wedding-RingsIt’s no longer a matter of “if”, but “when.” Marriage equality will come to every state, including Virginia.

Last week, two Norfolk men filed suit challenging Virginia’s marriage inequality. Three days later, an Ohio judge issued a restraining order which forbade the registrar of deaths from accepting a death certificate that did not reflect that a gay man was married and named his surviving spouse.

Last week, The Virginian-Pilot editorial board offered best wishes to Tony and Tim. Today, they use the Ohio case as an argument against Virginia’s identically-worded amendment.

Reading through the Ohio court order, the date and location of the men’s marriage jumped out at me: July 11, 2013 in Maryland.

Same date, same state for me, albeit about 120 miles away. Unbelievable.
