RIP Tommy 1997 – 2014

I lost my baby yesterday. For 17 years, he was my constant companion. I don’t seem to be able to locate any pictures of him walking on his leash or riding in the car, both things he loved to do, but here are some photos I could put my hands on.

UPDATED with a couple of more photos, including one take 2 days ago.

  1. Oh Vivian, I am so sorry for your loss. I had a ginger cat, that looked a lot like Tommy, only he had long hair. He was my baby. He died several years ago, so I know a little something about your loss. I still miss my Toby.

Be gentle with your self for awhile. You have suffered a loss and it will take some time to reweave your life. Enjoy your memories and give yourself permission to grieve. You have a loss of a very dear one. Agape, friend.

  2. I am so sorry, Vivian. He was a beautiful boy and clearly loved. Thank you for sharing these dear photos. My heart is with you!

  3. Vivian,

So sorry to hear about Tommy. My Fraidy (Yes–name stuck) cat left me after 17 years too.

They are members of the family, and there is nothing like the love of a feline companion. They are the best.

I know many love their dogs, but I would not give up my kitties.

    1. I’ve had dogs in the past. I just didn’t think it was possible to get so attached to a cat – they are so independent. But while Tommy was very independent, he was also the most loving and fun animal I’ve ever had.

      I miss him.

      1. I think the thing about dogs and cats is that dogs are affectionate by default, but if a cat loves you, you know you’ve earned it.

  4. I am so sorry for your loss. I can tell from the pics that he was well loved. Cats just have a wonderful way of getting under your skin. Take care.
