And it’s Miller in the 1st

If that headline looks familiar, then it's because it is 🙂 I used that headline when announcing John Miller's selection as the Democratic nominee about 3 1/2 months ago. It is appropriate again today as he received the endorsement of The Daily Press. There's a choice on Nov. 6, and it could not be more … Continue reading And it’s Miller in the 1st

Where the candidates stand: payday lending

Another good issue to look at, The Virginian Pilot today shows the candidates' stand on payday lending. For those who are unfamiliar, Virginia has a limit on interest rates of 36% - except for payday lenders, who are allowed to charge rates approaching 400%. (The statute allows for a fee of $15 per $100 borrowed.) … Continue reading Where the candidates stand: payday lending

BD live blog OTR

Bearing Drift live-blogged this morning's On the Record. I missed out, since the best I can do on Sunday morning is roll out of bed in time to watch the show 😦 Head on over, anyway, and check out the comments.

I addressed the details of this in an earlier … Continue reading Where the candidates stand: redistricting

HRTA studies…. tolls!

ODU Candidates forum

The Ted Constant Center at Old Dominion University was the setting for last week's candidates' forum. (I inadvertently left my camera in the car so I don't have any photos from the event.) Spread across the dias were ten candidates, representing the races in the 6th and 13th Senate districts, and the 21st, 78th, and … Continue reading ODU Candidates forum

Miller clarification on Pre-K

You will note in the graphic in the post below on candidate positions, the Pre-K one shows that Delegate Paula Miller disagrees with the Virginian Pilot's position on Governor Kaine's Pre-K proposal. I was quite surprised to see that, especially since I have heard Miller say on several occasions that she supports the proposal. Thinking … Continue reading Miller clarification on Pre-K
