At 2am in the morning, Daylight Savings Time starts. I have to admit that I'm none too happy about loosing an hour when time is so precious. Yeah, I know about the supposed energy savings but around here, it means nothing. Instead of working til 2am, I'll just be working til 3am. And fighting to … Continue reading Spring forward

Neither Clinton, Nor Obama
Yesterday's Virginian-Pilot reprinted an article by New York Times op-ed writer David Brooks with the above title. In it, Brooks lays out the case for New Mexico governor Bill Richardson. He is, after all, the most experienced person running for president. It seems I'm not the only one who thinks that Richardson may be the … Continue reading Neither Clinton, Nor Obama
On Drake
A few things have happened in the past week or so regarding my Congressional representative, Thelma Drake, that require mention. First there was the incident at her Virginia Beach office. I don't have a clue as to whether the decision to pretend that the office was closed was hers or that of her staff but … Continue reading On Drake

This must be a shock for all concerned: Genealogists have found that civil rights activist the Rev. Al Sharpton is a descendent of a slave owned by relatives of the late Sen. Strom Thurmond, a newspaper reported Sunday. The newspaper reporting the information is The New York Daily News, which hired Ancestry.com to do the … Continue reading Thurmond’s family owned Sharpton’s
Redistricting = incumbent protection
An editorial in an early January edition of the Virginian-Pilot makes reference to the 1992 bill re-introduced by House Democratic Chairman Brian Moran (discussed here). Thus, whoever is … Continue reading Redistricting = incumbent protection

Senator and presidential aspirant John McCain: "I think that Donald Rumsfeld will go down in history as one of the worst secretaries of defense in history" Well, duh!
Will it hurt her?
The Virginian-Pilot reprinted this article in today's paper. Clinton has been taking some heat for her Iraq vote. Now, it seems, she is unwilling to back away from it: Yet antiwar anger has festered, and yesterday morning Mrs. Clinton rolled out a new response to those demanding contrition: She said she was willing to lose … Continue reading Will it hurt her?
Richardson: Try diplomacy
NM Governor and Democratic presidential candidate Bill Richardson thinks it is time to try diplomacy to end the war in Iraq. "He [President George Bush] finally used diplomacy and it works," Richardson said on the first day of a two-day visit to the early voting state of New Hampshire. "My hope is that he uses … Continue reading Richardson: Try diplomacy
