No Report: Allen/McCain rally in Norfolk

For the second time today, I'm posting a no-report. No, I didn't have technology failure. Yes, I attended the rally. So why no report? Well, my mama always said if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all 😉 UPDATE: The Daily Press story ain't bad

No Report: NCDC forum

Technology is a great tool - when it works. I recorded the entire Norfolk City Democratic Committee forum last night and then lost the recording when transferring it to the computer! And, I didn't take any notes. Relying on my (increasingly) faulty memory is probably not a good idea. So no real report on the … Continue reading No Report: NCDC forum

Allen gaffee: Pilot weighs in

The Pilot today weighed in on the George Allen "gaffe" last Friday. And the front page of PilotOnline now has a poll, asking the question: "Was U.S. Sen. George Allen out of line in his comments to a videographer for opponent James Webb?" As of right now, 735 people have participated in the poll, with … Continue reading Allen gaffee: Pilot weighs in

Amen, brother!

I opened the paper this morning and it was as if somebody overheard my conversation with Congressman Bobby Scott at the NCDC forum last night. An article by Julian Bond, chairman of the NAACP and professor at UVA, appeared in today's Pilot. Bond articulates the point that I and others have tried to make about … Continue reading Amen, brother!

Allen: open mouth, insert foot

I talk about race and racism quite often, both in this space and in my everyday life. I recall only too well the Willie Horton ads and other blatant appeals by politicians to pander to the racists among us. I can now answer the question I put forth three months ago: yes, George Allen is … Continue reading Allen: open mouth, insert foot

Rasmussen: Lieberman ahead by 5 points

Former Redskin Heath Shuler running for Congress

Probably the biggest bust in Redskin history, former quarterback Heath Shuler is running for Congress in North Carolina's 11th District. His opponent is Republican Charles Taylor. Shuler is mounting a heck of a campaign: his website claims he is up by 4 points. And he has raised some serious coin - over $1 million. Shuler … Continue reading Former Redskin Heath Shuler running for Congress

GEICO and Vote NO

I've just finished another bill paying session. One of the bills I had to pay was my car insurance, which has been with GEICO for about 26 years. I switched to GEICO around 1980, when I first went to work for the IRS. My partner was with another company when we first met and I … Continue reading GEICO and Vote NO

Draft Gore

Some people won't take no for an answer 😉 Mary Beth Williams won't. From the Huffington Post: How serious is she? In her own words: I've packed up my family, including four children, ages 4 - 9, two with autism, put all my belongings into storage (at a cost of over $350/month), have worked 60 … Continue reading Draft Gore
