Others have blogged on this from the WorldNutsDaily:
Soy is feminizing, and commonly leads to a decrease in the size of the penis, sexual confusion and homosexuality. That’s why most of the medical (not socio-spiritual) blame for today’s rise in homosexuality must fall upon the rise in soy formula and other soy products. (Most babies are bottle-fed during some part of their infancy, and one-fourth of them are getting soy milk!) Homosexuals often argue that their homosexuality is inborn because “I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t homosexual.” No, homosexuality is always deviant. But now many of them can truthfully say that they can’t remember a time when excess estrogen wasn’t influencing them.
So where is the medical blame? Apparently, there is none.
I started dropping in there to see how the other side lives, years ago, but often kept my visits short because the articles were so appalling. More and more, though, it seems like an alternative to the Onion . . . nonstop amusement.
Well, there’s about as much evidence there as for the “Gay Gene.” (Or is it the “Gay Jean”? Does anyone besides me remember the very bad sci-fi show “Quark,” which had the character Gene-Jean, who was alternately male and female? Very funny show.)
No, there is significant evidence that homosexuality may be genetic. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever to suspect that it’s caused by tofu.
The fact that I have to point this out transcends absurdity and extends straight into Stupidville.
I don’t know about this article, but I will say I simply have no urge to eat soy; I guess the allure of a good steak is simply too good to pass up.
Just out of curiosity, I did a web search (see web address below). The government apparently has done some research on this topic, but the results were inconclusive. Given the politics involve, I wonder whether a Democrat Congress will fund further such studies.
In any event, we already know bottle-feeding is not as good as breast-feeding for babies; there research that supports that conclusion. Unfortunately, bottle-feeding is more convenient for mothers.
While it is generally superior to Socialism, Capitalism does have its own drawbacks. The free market encourages whatever behavior makes entrepreneurs money. For example, the free market provides little business incentive to encourage breast feeding. On the other hand, there is quite a bit of dough to be made encouraging women to bottle-feed their babies.

Good lord, I hope you are not trying to say that crazy articles and crack-pot studies like this represent true Conservatives, are you? Please donβt lump me in with those nut-cases!
I will be the first to admit that the religious right is anti-gay, but I think I have been pretty clear on record about how I feel about the religious right…
This does smack of the The Onion, doesn’t it?
If Soy makes you gay, then what food makes you straight? The transverse has to work to be true so obviously this is a crap theory.
Of course there are a million tasteless jokes I could make but I will restrain myself.
I am straight so I guess crap food, burgers and gallons of soda cause that, right? π
I have never understood those who are anti-gay. I mean what are they worried about? Are they worried that exposure to homosexuality will make THEM gay? That sounds like someone who is unsure about themselves. I actually have a theory that being straight in the company of homosexuals can help you out if you are straight.
One time a whole bunch of friends and I went with a gay friend of mine to a predominantly gay dance club. We were all hanging out and having a good time. During the night I was talking to a woman the whole while thinking “Too bad she is gay… too bad for me.”
Long story short, she wasn’t… She just liked hanging out with her gay friends at the club since she was never harassed by drunken guys trying to hit on her. Once my friend came over and referred to me as his “Straight Friend” she smiled, laughed and said “Cool, wanna dance?”
So does exposure to certain people or foods make you gay? No. Does being one of the few straight guys in a predominantly gay club make you gay? No. I will tell you though; it sure makes the odds for a straight guy trying to dance with a straight woman better though! π
On a side note, and yes I am stereotyping, that place had the best music and people sure were dressed well! π
“The free market provides little business incentive to encourage breast feeding.” Have you priced baby formula lately?!
“Bottle-feeding is more convenient for mothers.” Let me tell you, letting baby nurse at night is a whole lot easier than getting up and making a bottle of formula.
“I will be the first to admit that the religious right is anti-gay.”
Please don’t lump all of us together, either. Being against gay marriage does not make one anti-gay.
I, too, used to frequent a gay bar with a friend of mine when we were 17. (I think it was on W. Plume St., but I can’t remember.) The reason we went there was because it was the only bar in Norfolk that didn’t card us!
Squeaky Wheel,
It is a truism that you are what you eat. When does food become a drug? Consider the nature of food supplements. Are food supplements drugs or food? You also might want to ask some women why when they were going through menopause they took soy supplements.
Jack,
Breast feeding is a business? Because of the money involved, business has the incentive to encourage women to bottle feed their babies.
Anyway, two guys arguing about the convenience of breast feeding is rather pointless. The fact is that bottling feeding is commonplace. Whatever their reasons, it is a choice women make and businesses encourage this behavior.
Oh, Tom, please tell me that you’re defending this article. Really. It would make my day.
Actually, there is a business isde to breast-feeding, too: nipple shields, breast pumps, and nursing bras come to mind. No matter how cheap they make the formula, breast-feeding is still cheaper. That is, quite literally, the FREE market.

I do not know whether soy formula contributes to an increase in homosexuality. The WorldNetDaily article takes a definite stance. So, it seems, do you. Yet it seems the scientists studying the matter do not know the answer.
Jack
I will concede that in recent years that businesses and doctors have encouraged breast feed babies. This I regard as good news.
I would also observe that it has not been scientifically disproven that being the pastor of an evangelical Christian church in Colorado makes you gay.
The quote has to be the single dumbest thing I have ever read. You know, its a sign that Jim Rutz thinks about “gay” too much, and it makes you wonder, no? But seriously, who has the time or the paranoia in their lives to connect soy with homosexuality. What a loser.
Of course, this opens up every person of faith to be lumped in with this guy so the left can bash all religious conservatives and think that we all secretly feel the same way.
Mason Conservative
It is our government that seems to have the time and the paranoia.
Fortunately, we do not live as our ancestors did. Unfortunately, we do not always understand the consequences of the changes we have made. Our society is experimental.
Soy milk for infants is one of our recent innovations. What are the subtle consequences of using it? Are there none?
I find it a puzzle that people will readily and with little or no evidence believe in something like global warming, but the mere suggestion that soy formula might pose a problem…. It is scary how some people believe they already know all the answers.
