Video: Norfolk Wards 3 and 4 candidates forum

The six candidates for Norfolk City Council Ward 3 and the two candidates for Ward 4 participated in a forum last Thursday at Booker T. Washington High School. The lighting was quite poor so I apologize for the quality of this video, which is below. At the very least, you can hear what was said, even if you can’t, at times, see who was speaking.

  1. I wish I could embed a picture so I could show everyone the steroids my doctor prescribed to control the swelling in my ears. I was sitting at the top of the auditorium at speaker level. Had those speakers been about 6 feet lower to the ground, everyone would have suffered serious ear damage.

On top of that, all the lights on stage were pointed different directions. I’d really like to say it was just the inexperience of the organizations hosting the event, but they’ve been doing this since before I was born. There really is just no excuse.

Next time hold a debate for each ward, do a sound check before the debate, and have all the lights pointed at the candidates.

    1. I intentionally set up down front because the sound had been an issue at Granby (not loud enough) and I expected the same here. But then the lighting thing was a real mess.

I find it hard to believe that two high school auditoriums have such issues. Don’t they hold assemblies any more?
