Who’s on your ballot

vote_3Election Day is tomorrow – Tuesday, November 5. Despite the polls, we all know that the only poll that counts is the one on Election Day, when we cast our ballots. So make time tomorrow to get out and vote.

The candidates (listed in the order on which they will appear on the ballot – here is mine, for example, from the Norfolk Office of Elections), with links to their websites:

Lieutenant Governor

Attorney General

All others listed on your ballot depend on where you live. You can check who is on your ballot using this tool on the Virginia State Board of Elections website. For Hampton Roads, I have maintained a list of the candidates for the House of Delegates as well as the cities of Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk, and Virginia Beach. The list includes links to the candidate’s websites as well as links to the local newspaper endorsements in each race.

Don’t just vote for the top of the ticket. The candidates further down the ballot have worked just as hard – and deserve just as much consideration – as the statewide ones. And if you believe, as I do, that the closer government is to you, the more it affects you, then those contests are very important.
